Residence Notes:
In 1861 Edmund was living either next door to or in the same house as his parents in law James and Dorothy CRASE but we are unable to find his wife, who was then pregnant, anywhere in the 1861 census of Cornwall.
Next door to the CRASE husband and wife were a family headed by the unmarried Avis RICKHARD. Were these relatives of the Edmund's second wife Grace RICKARD?
The family does not appear in the 1875 Eureka census. The CD index of the 1880 Census locates them in New Town, Eureka. The Cornish American Connection cite the 1891 Census as their evidence that Edmund, Grace, Beatrice and Thomas were in Redruth in 1891.
New Town was the name for the northern part of Ruby Hill where most of the Cornish settlers lived. In the annual tax rolls of 1888 and 1889 his house had a real estate value of $100.
In 1891 Edmund and his family were at 27, Clinton Road, Redruth. We have stayed in a bed and breakfast place in Clinton Road which is a road of substantial Victorian houses near the centre of Redruth.

Morcom, along with most of the merchants on Ruby Hill, was listed among the committee of invitation.The 1880 Census describes him as a `grocer'.Gary SPARGO reports that "by 1888 Ruby Hill was in quite a state of decline and many businessmen had folded up". Was Edmund in America between the death of Dorothy CRASE in 1867 and his marriage to Grace RICKARD in 1872? He does not appear in Ross 1871 Cornwall Census, when his children were with their maternal grandmother. 1910 Census of Idaho says that both Edmund and Grace immigrated in 1866.
The NV tax listing for 1888 lists Edmund as having $100 assessed property value in Eureka Co.

Inglewood is about 46 kilometres from Bendigo and was a developing settlement in 1865. The family later lived nr Inglewood Road (now known as the Calder Highway), Bendigo. They were in the suburbs of Long Gully and Ironbark on each side of the road.
