GENERAL NOTE:
According to the Launceston Coroner's report, Michelle and Jamie Aaron VENN had been living in a de facto relationship for about seven years before their deaths, although the relationship was on and off. Michelle obtained a domestic restraint order against Jamie about two weeks before their deaths. During this fortnight, Michelle's brother Dean Richard stayed with her , and witnessed two occasions when Jamie visited the house and slashed the tyres of Michelle's car and broke a window in the house.On the night of the murder Michelle returned to her house after giving a friend of Dean's a lift home. Witnesses heard an argument between Michelle and Jamie in the front of the house followed by two shots within 10 seconds of each other. The General practitioner for the couple described VENN as having a potentialfor violence , while MORCOM was timid and somewhat "brow beaten". VENN had found the shotgun used in the murder of Michelle and his own suicide, in his father's work shed where it was not properly secured as required by law.
