GENERAL NOTE:
There were very few MARTYR or MARTYER couples in Queensland before 1900. Ernest Henry MARTYR and Catherine nee CALLAGHAN appear to be likely parents for Alice as Ernest Henry died in Cunnamulla in 1895 and Alice named her son Ernest MARTYER. No birth record has been found for Alice in NSW or Queensland. It is, of course, possible that Alice was a widow of a MARTY[E]R but no marriage record has been found, or a record of a MARTY[E]R dying in Queensland shortly before 1906 when Ernest jnr was born. The birth records normally name both parents if they are married.
