GENERAL NOTES:
On 11 March 1941 No 3905113 Lance Sergeant William Cyril MORCOM, Royal Corps of Signal, was awarded the MBE for "gallant conduct in carrying out hazardous work in a very brave manner". He was invested by the King at Buckingham Palace on 27 May 1941.
William and a couple of friends were in London, either on duty or on leave, and they moved a couple of bombs from a jeweller's house. One had gone through the roof and landed on a bed, the other had buried itself in the front step.
Between leaving South Wales c. 1930 and a return visit with his two eldest daughters in1945, Cyril/William lost all contact with his parents and siblings.
