DEATH:
07Jun1861 in Porcupine Flats VIC AUS. Reg.No.1861/5035. James MORCOM, born in Cornwall, son of Diggery and Elizabeth. Age 32 fits exactly birth date of this James. There is, however, another puzzling entry in AVRI (Reg.No.25008) for Mary Ann MORCUM b. in 1873 in Maldon VIC to James and JaneJames Williams died of lung disease - probably the result of working in the mines. He was buried shortly after his younger brother Elijah.Age at death: 32

03Apr1881 Seaman for HMS Vengeance in Stoke Damerel.Occupation Note: In this entry he was at the "Sailor Rest and Institute", Stoke Damerel. There were 25 sailors lodging at the Sailor Rest, four being listed as belonging to the HMS "Indus", and nine to HMS "Vengeance". "James W MARCONI" is listed next to William H BRAY who was age 21, unmarried. They are both listed as on the crew of HMS Vengence, and they were the only sailors in the Sailor Rest or on board the "Indus" who were listed as born in Falmouth.Should James W MARCONI or MORCOM have been listed as belonging to the "Indus" or was the Sailor Rest a staging post in his transfer from HMS "Indus" to the HMS "Vengence"?In 1861 James Williams MORCOM was living in Killigrew St., Falmouth and his father Digory was, probably, previously married to Kezia BRAY. His mother Jane nee TOY was living at 43 Killigrew St. in 1881. William Henry BRAY was also resident in Killigrew Street at the time of the 1861 and 1871 censuses, and his father returned to Killigrew St in 1882. However we have, as yet, been unable to find any family connection between William Henry BRAY and Kezia BRAY, nor between Digory MORCOM and Agnes Perry MORCOM, the mother of William Henry BRAY..
