Residence Notes:
In the 1851 census the only possible entry for Matilda found in Stoke Damerel is as Matilda TARYEAS, a lodger, age 22, at 2 Quarry St, b.Truro. She was one of six single women and one man, aged 18 to 24, who were all "NSV" = ?non specified vocation?.
The head of the Quarry Street household was a William WATTS, Naval Pensioner. He had a wife Lesabela and daughter Lesabella.
According to their marriage certificate, George was living before his marriage at 26 Chapel Street and Matilda at 24 Chapel Street. In 1851 one of the five households at 24 Chapel Street were William TRAYS and his wife Elizabeth.
Was TRAYS a misspelling for TREZIES and was William the brother or other relative of Matilda?William TRAYS was born in Stoke Damerel but his wife (like George MORCOMBE) was born in St Germans a short way across the border in Cornwall
It is possible that the Matilda MORCOMBE in the 1903 Electoral Roll was George's daughter not his mother

Residence Note:
No 26 Chapel Street was occupied in 1851 by three unrelated couples and a family of four. A family of three and another family of six were in a tenement at the back of the house, making nineteen occupants in all.

GENERAL NOTE:
The suggestion made here that Matilda TREZIES and William TRAYS were sister and brother (or maybe related in some other way) is highly speculative but worth pursuing further. Census enumerators elsewhere in Cornwall and Devon had a great deal of difficulty with the name TREZIES, and TRAYS may be a misspelling. We know that Matilda was in No 26 in the next year just before she married George MORCOMBE. No 26 does not seem to have been a house for boarders - in 1851 it was only occupied by married couples with or without children. It is also interesting to note that Elizabeth TRAYS came from St Germans the same Cornish parish as George MORCOMBE. She might be a relative of George, but no Elizabeth MORCOMBE was found in the IGI for St Germans
